Rajasthan BJP shortlists candidates for municipal elections

JAIPUR: Rajasthan BJP has shortlisted a panel of three candidates in majority of the municipal seats in the 49 local bodies going to polls.
These candidates in the panel will be scrutinized by a three-member district-level committee including district president, district in-charge and district organization secretary.
The final selection will be made by the eleven-member central election committee.The district-level committees will bring the list of candidates and will scrutinize the candidates in Jaipur.
“For the next two days, the central committee will stamp the name of the finalised candidates. The list of candidates will be declared once it is finalised. The meetings are expected to run from the morning to the evening,” said a BJP leader. The party is expecting a rush of candidates at the BJP headquarters in Jaipur. Meanwhile, the party has finalized the campaign module of leaders including BJP state president Satish Poonia. “The state president will kick off the campaign from Bikaner. He will release two vision documents —district and state. The vision document of district will give a glimpse of BJP’s roadmap for the city and the state document will talk about how BJP will create a new benchmark in development,” said a BJP leader. BJP media in-charge Vimal Katiyar informed that BJP will hold a marathon to mark the birth anniversary of the iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Thursday.
“Like every year, BJP is celebrating the birth anniversary of Patel. Our leaders including state president Satish Poonia, leader of opposition Gulab Chand Kataria, former state president Ashok Parnami will attend the marathon,” said Katiyar.
