BJP drops 17 members; Alwar MP Balaknath in state executive list
Jaipur: BJP national president JP Nadda has dropped 17 members from the previous 28 members state executive in the new 29-member team announced on Saturday. The new list of executive committee members includes 11 vice-presidents, five general secretaries, 11 secretaries, a treasurer and a co-treasurer. An additional general secretary has been added to the new list after taking special permission from the party’s central team.Former cabinet minister Madan Dilawar, tribal leader Sushil Katara, state spokesperson Ramlal Sharma and sitting MLA Chandrakanta Meghwal are among those dropped from the new state executive.The new list has three sitting MPs including the firebrand MP of Alwar Baba Balaknath (vice-president), former Nagaur MP CR Choudhary (vice-president) and Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari (general secretary).A source said that the party’s central team has put the list of the party’s nine morchas on hold as four of them have scheduled state-wide protests in the coming days. “The new team has 18 new members maintaining a caste and regional balance. Some of the selected members are very new but they are selected considering their strengths and hold in their respective regions and communities,” said a BJP source. Bharatpur district has two members on the list — Bhanu Pratap Singh and Bhajanlal who have been retained from the previous team.Madhoram Choudhary, a close aide of Union law minister Arjun Meghwal was also dropped and Mahendra Yadav who is considered close to Baba Ramdev has also been dropped. The party has extended the term of 11 members from the previous team including Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari.
