Jaipur: Long pending demand of nearly 50,000 residents of Jaisinghpura Khor area situated at Delhi Road was fulfilled on Friday, after public health and engineering department (PHED) minister
Kiran Maheshwari inaugurated a Bisalpur pipeline to supply fresh drinking water.
The PHED department will now supply nearly 50 lakh litres of drinking water per day in the area.
However, for one month, 15 lakh litre water will be supplied. "In one month, all the colonies and hamlets in the Jaisinghpura Khor area will be connected with the Bisalpur pipeline and residents will not have to depend on the water tankers," said Maheshwari.
At present residents have to depend on groundwater for drinking purposes as supply in the area is done by 35 taps and 65 handpumps. It was further informed, the PHED has interconnected new lines with old Ramgragh pipelines and drinking water is supplied through them. Water in Jaisinghpura Khor area will be supplied through Brampuri pump house after repairing the old lines.
The residents of these areas were demanding safe drinking water since long as the content of fluoride in the groundwater is high. "Earlier, the state government has connected Ward number 91 of Amer constituency and now Ward number 90 has been connected. The department is making efforts to supply safe drinking water to 1.5 crore residents in coming years."
The move has brought cheers to the residents as they were waiting for drinking water since long. Resident of Lekraj Colony, Kanhiya, said, "The state has provided oxygen to us who were dying slow death in absence of drinking water. The problem in summer is huge and residents have to depend on expensive tankers for drinking water."
Sources said, the department is developing an infrastructure to supply drinking water to maximum number of residents. For to increase the quantity of water supplied from Bisalpur to more than 540 mld, the department has laid an additional pipeline from Surajpura to Balawala.
Similarly, additional pipelines from Balawala to different parts of Jaipur will also be laidfor distribution of water to western areas of the city. Once the infrastructure is developed the water will be supplied in PRN scheme and other areas.
It was proposed to supply surplus water received from Bisalpur to new colonies. Currently, the amount of water supplied by the treatment plant in Bisalpur is 400 mld, which is supposed to increase up to 600 mld in times ahead.
