JAIPUR: The public health and engineering department (PHED) is planning to keep
Bisalpur dam filled with water even during scanty rainfall by bringing water from Chambal river. Bisalpur dam is the source of water supply to Jaipur and Ajmer.
The officials of the department have now started studying the feasibility of the project . The authorities do not want to take any chances in case of scanty rainfall in the coming years which could dry up the Bisalpur dam.
PHED project director Agam Mathur said, “We are at the moment determining the feasibility of the project. We have thought about the project as we are relying heavily on Bisalpur dam. In case the state witnesses scanty rainfall in the coming years, it would become difficult for us to meet the demands of water.”
