Scattered rainfall was witnessed in Jaipur, Dausa, Sikar and Alwar districts on Tuesday.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot undertook an aerial survey of Barmer, Jalore and Sirohi districts and met people affected by rainfall and storms. He directed the authorities to expedite restoration work.
Talking to the media in Jodhpur, Gehlot said that NDRF and SDRF rules tweaked by the Centre were causing delay in timely disbursement of compensation to people affected by natural calamities. "I have written to the Prime Minister about it. Our chief secretary is in talk with officials at the Centre for rectifying these rules. Not only Rajasthan but other states are also facing this problem in giving compensation on time. If compensations cannot be given on time, what is the use of them? It is a big problem," the CM said.
Gehlot said that more than 17,000 people were shifted before the arrival of the cyclone, and 17 teams of SDRF and 8 teams of NDRF along with the army played a key role in relief and rescue operations.
Dholpur received rainfall of 188mm, which was the highest in the state, and was followed by Banera (Bhilwara) with rainfall of 121mm, Kishangarh (Ajmer) 115mm, Nasirabad 106mm, Wazirpur (Sawai Madhopur) 85mm, and 80mm to 10mm rainfall in many other places in the state. Rainfall of 149.1mm was recorded in Ajmer on Tuesday.
A team of SDRF led by additional SP Lokesh Sonwal rescued 63 people from inundated Raithal village in Jalore district under adverse conditions. "The area was totally inundated, and flow of rainwater was continuously coming in at 11pm when we got information that 63 people were trapped. With our equipment and team, we started the rescue operation and successfully rescued them at 5am on Tuesday," Sonwal said.
In Pali district, where CM Gehlot will visit on Wednesday, two major dams-Jawai and Hemawas-have already touched the level of 40 feet and 26 feet, respectively, while over 21 dams in the district have been overflowing.
