Bikaner cops probing if minor was raped in hotel in presence of police

Jaipur: Police in Bikaner have launched an investigation into the allegations by the parents of a minor girl that the man who abducted her also raped her in a hotel despite the presence of a police team there.The 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted last month by a man believed to be around 20 years old, and both the girl and the man were tracked in Uttar Pradesh, said a police official. Two male constables and a female constable reached Bikaner's Nokha railway station on Oct 10 with the minor and the accused. They then checked into a hotel in Nokha before going to Deshnok.According to the girl's parents, it was during this brief stay at the hotel that the accused raped the girl. Police said the girl stayed with the female constable in a separate room at the hotel while the accused was in a separate room with the male constables. Police also said the girl did not mention the rape when her statements were later recorded before a court. It was only later that her parents filed the complaint."We have added sections of the POCSO Act and rape in the abduction FIR against the accused," said a police official. He also said that police checked the CCTV footages of the hotel and did not find any substantial clue that could indicate that the minor was raped in the hotel."The girl was also sent to Nari Niketan by Child Welfare Committee, and she did not say to the committee that she was raped earlier. This fact emerged only later," said the official.
