Barmer cops arrest kingpin in chit fund scam

JAISALMER

: Barmer police on Sunday arrested one person for duping many people through a chit fund scam from Gurgaon. The accused has been identified as Deepak Arora, who had been absconding from Barmer since 2015. Seven cases against Arora’s fake company were lodged in

Barmer district

while 32 cases were lodged in

Jodhpur district

.


Prahaladram Kadvasara, one of the victims and a resident of Jaisar said he was lured by fake promises of becoming a crorepati by doubling, even tripling his money. On February 10, 2008 an employee of a company by the name of C Max contacted him.

The victim gave him over Rs 2 lakh. However, when the time came to pay back, the chit fund company was locked and all the employees including the mastermind Arora ran away.
