“He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. He was suffering from some heart and breathing problems,” Kumar said.
The police was informed by the hotel staff about the death; the police inspected the room but did not find any suspicious element. “We have been told that he had been unwell for past several months,” the officer said.
“We spoke to his partner and she said that he had been complaining of chest problems. On Saturday his situation worsened and he died,’ the police said.
The police also spoke to the doctors, the body has been kept at the mortuary and a post–mortem would be soon conducted. “We have informed the authorities and his post-mortem would be conducted in the city,” said Kumar.
Richards had come to the city a few days ago; there were other tourists who were part of the tour and travel group. “We have been told that they were on an all India tour and had visited other cities before coming to Jaipur. While still in Jaipur, he had consulted a doctor about some health problem,” a police official informed TOI, adding that post-mortem would be conducted on Monday morning. The police said that they have also spoken to other members of the tour group.
