The Desert Corps of Indian Army is restoring ponds and lakes in Rajasthan as part of the project Amrut Sarovar. The water bodies are being cleared of garbage, widened and deepened by the Desert Corps Army Engineers with help from locals at Khetolai area of Jaisalmer. A 4000sqm reservoir they renovated will help the survival of thousands of gazelles and endangered birds, especially the Great Indian Bustard. The pond was handed over to Khetolai Village Panchayat after renovation.
