), who are village-level health workers, have been spearheading the Covid vaccination drive in remote areas of the district. These women walk kilometres, sometimes ride camels to maximise the inoculation by reaching out every doorstep in remote Karda, Pochina,

Shahgarh Bulj

and

Dhanana

areas.

Due to their efforts, 90% of the population in the region have received the first vaccination dose and the second dose has been given to around 70% of the population.

, who is deployed in Poonam Nagar PHC walks to vaccinate people in remote hamlets of Shahgarh Bulj along with her two-year old daughter.

“It is difficult to reach in desert areas as people change their hamlets according to the weather. In such a situation, travelling on foot and searching people for vaccination is a challenge,” said Kumari.

It takes hours to reach Hasam ki Dhani, Buhana and other small villages and hamlets in Dhanana. “Some hamlets are so remote that vehicles cannot reach there. In such cases I have to walk or ride a camel to reach for vaccination,” Dhanana area ANM Krishna

ANM Anita deployed in Pochina PHC has a one-year old daughter, who accompanies her for the door-to-door immunization drive. “I feel proud that I play an important role in making the national campaign successful,” said Anita.
