Jaipur: Alwar district administration has received a national award from president Droupadi Murmu for being the best district for empowerment of especially abled persons in 2022.
Alwar DM Jitendra Soni, who received the award from the president told TOI,
“After identifying the persons with special needs, we conducted special camps at gram panchayat level and provided them with the much-needed disability certificates. The national team working for artificial hands and limbs present in the camp identified the beneficiaries.
The efforts yielded desired results as the district in its category has 29,562 pension holders. “Also, 1,839 persons with special needs have been given equipment like hearing machines, wheelchairs, spectacles, memory aids etc at the cost of Rs 2.41 crore. The effort will run on a rolling basis at regular intervals and the team will access the needs and provide them assistance,” said Soni. TNN
