All India Sub-Junior (U-15 and U-17) Ranking Badminton tournament: Main draw matches to begin on February 2
Jaipur: Ten pairs from Rajasthan will be competing in the main draw of the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (U-15 and U-17) Ranking Badminton tournament being held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here.In the U-17 mixed doubles, Advika Sharma and Anshuman Chaudhary, Deshna Jain and Garvit Barwar, Manas Gehlot and Mokshita Bhardwaj, Kandarp Sharma and Sharayu Rajane (Maharashtra) and in the U-15 mixed doubles, Manan Sharma and Inayat Gulati of Punjab, Anand Maderna and Yashvita Mewada, Shreyansh Chaudhary and Padmaja Singh, Y. Shekhawat and Khushi Sharma, Satvik Agarwal and Lakshita Bhardwaj will play in the main draw. Manan and Inayat have been seeded first and Satvik and Lakshita have been seeded fourth. The main round matches will be played on Monday from 9 am.
Nine players from Rajasthan will also stake claim for a medal in the girls' singles. Rajasthan's Anvi Rathore, who played for the title-contending Indian team, has been given the second seed in the under-15 girls' category. Lakshit Bhardwaj, Yashvita Mewara, Padmaja Singh will also challenge in the under-15 girls' category and Deshna Jain, Kavya Joshi, Ritika Jhamnani, Anvi Rathore, Nehal Sisodiya will also challenge in the under-17 girls' singles.Meanwhile, 11 players will compete in the boys' singles main draw. Harsh Kandpal, S. Chaudhary, Satvik Agarwal, Y. Shekhawat, Manan Sharma, Anand Maderna, and Vayam Lamba from Rajasthan will compete in the under-15 boys' singles, while Vinay Pratap Singh, Vayam Lamba, Kandarp Sharma, and A. Chaudhary will also compete in the under-17 boys' singles main draw.Seven pairs will be competing in the boys' doubles. In the Under-15 boys' doubles, Arjun Arora and Tanishq Sharma, Anand Maderna and Y. Shekhawat, Shreyansh Choudhary and Vayam Lamba, and fourth seed Manan Sharma and Sai Sohan Kota of Andhra Pradesh will play in the main draw. In the Under-17 boys' doubles, Anshuman Choudhary and Harsh Swami of Rajasthan, Garvit Barwar and Kandarp Sharma, Devansh Tomar and Akshat Shekhawat, Sonu Meena and Shrivas Deep of West Bengal will also compete in the main draw.Earlier, in the Under-17 Boys Singles, Kandarp Sharma of Rajasthan defeated Aniket Paul of West Bengal by 15-9, 15-11 and in the Under-17 Girls category, Nehal Sisodiya defeated Vanya Manchanda of Gujarat by 15-8, 15-12 to enter the main round. In the Under-17 Girls Doubles, Deshna Jain and Aaradhya defeated Pragya Odi and Shanvi Odi of Goa by 15-6, 15-5, Ojaswita Dubey and Pearl Pareek defeated Aishna and Sahnvi Suthar of Telangana by 15-8, 15-10. In the Under-17 Mixed Doubles, the pair of Garvit Barwar and Deshna Jain defeated the pair of Uttarakhand and Haryana, Manav and Parul by 15-7, 15-9, the pair of Rajasthan and Maharashtra, K. Sharma and S. Ranjane defeated Gowtham and Vinosha of Telangana 15-11, 15-8 to advance to the main round. Devansh Tomar and Akshat Shekhawat also advanced to the main round on Saturday.
