JAIPUR:

Narsana

village in Jalore has scripted history with the help of district administratiom as it became the first

gram panchayat

in the state to register all its families for Rs 10 lakh under the Chief Minister

Chiranjeevi Health Insurance

coverage.

With innovative thinking and effective implementation of the plans, the collective efforts of the district administration, health department, gram panchayat and a donor has now turned out to be a unique model for others to follow to ensure all the families of a particular area gets covered under the health insurance scheme.

The 1,235 families of Narsana gram panchayat are now entitled for the cashless treatment at around 700 private hospitals of the state and more than 800 government hospitals.

Initially it looked like a daunting task to achieve as out of 1,235 families in the gram panchayat, there were 428 families, which were not covered automatically in the scheme, as they did not belong to categories, automatically covered under the scheme.

Families covered under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Socio Economic Census 2011 beneficiaries, small and marginal farmers, contract workers automatically are covered under the scheme. Those who are automatically covered in the scheme, they need to pay Rs 850 premium annually for getting registered under the scheme. It was a challenging task for the authorities and gram panchayat to ensure that the 428 families left out from the scheme could pay Rs 850 as premium.

“A lot of efforts were made to encourage them to pay Rs 850 as it is for their own benefits. The result was quite encouraging which we received as 248 families paid their premium of R s850,” said Jalore collector, Nishant Jain.

Despite all the efforts, 180 families were still left out, as they were not in a condition to pay the premium. But the village sarpanch and a donor along with the zila parishad chief executive officer Sanjay Kumar and block development officer Laxman Singh Sandu ensured that all the families should be made aware about the benefits of the scheme.

The donor, identified as Tej Raj, came forward to pay the remaining premium of Rs 1.53 lakh for the 180 families, so that the entire villagers could be covered under the scheme.

The Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme, which is the state government’s flagship scheme, was launched on May 1, 2021 with Rs 5 lakh health coverage but later it was increased to Rs10 lakh.
