Amit Shah called off meeting with party's MP-MLA after Ajmer MP and former minister in the NDA government Sanwar Lal Jat suddenly fainted.
Shah, on the second day of his three-day visit was interacting with the elected representatives when Jat, who had stood up to speak, fainted. He was immediately rushed to Jaipur’s SMS Hospital, where he is presently undergoing treatment in the ICU.
62-year-old Jat reportedly had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Hospital authorities in a statement said that Jat had been brought to the SMS Hospital in an unconscious state with non-recordable pulse, blood pressure and respiration. He was immediately attended to by a team of senior doctors and though, his blood pressure, cardiac rhythm and hemodynamics are maintained, he is unconscious, critical and on ventilator.
Senior party members including Shah, chief minister Vasundhara Raje and state party president Ashok Parnami rushed to the hospital.
Jat had defeated the Congress's Sachin Pilot in Ajmer in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. A former minister in the
Modi government, Jat is currently the president of state Kishan Ayog.
