JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 crore to the victorious state Ranji team and land at 10% of the reserve price to the state cricket association for the construction of the proposed state of the art international cricket stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan defeated Baroda in the final of the Ranji trophy played at Baroda on Saturday.
The chief minister, while congratulating the team for its stupendous performance , said it has made the state proud by winning the highest domestic tournament ever. The chief minister also lauded the leadership of Rajasthan Cricket Association president and Union rural development and panchayati raj minister C P Joshi and his team for this milestone achievement .
The chief minister called up the Union minister and expressed happiness for the success of the team under his stewardship of the state cricket association, the team members and the management.
The chief minister said the state team achieved the feat after long 38 years. In 1973-74 , Rajasthan had to be satisfied with the runners up status playing against Karnataka . He said it is all the more praiseworthy as the young state team registered their victory based on the lead of the first innings played against Baroda on their home turf. He said this victory would be inspirational for the coming generations.
