KOTA: Kapil Nandwani was finally arrested on Monday after 10 days by the Special Operation Group (SOG), Gujarat police, for the suspected murder of Riddhi Nandwani, as she last seen with him on October 1. Kapil Nandwani is currently under the custody of Adipur police station.
"SOG nabbed Kapil Nandwani at 8.15pm last night," said VJ Jadeja, SI, Adipur police station, Gujarat.
Kapil was on constant move for the last 10 days so it was difficult to trace him. He was presented in court on Tuesday where he was sent to police remand till October 16, he said.
Kapil's advocates Muskaan Lalit Parsamni and Lalit Parsamni (Muskaan's husband) were called to the Adipur police station as soon as he was nabbed. Riddhi had filed a complaint under IPC Section 506/2, on August 23, 2015, for threat to kill. In this complaint, she had openly stated that "if I am killed the people responsible for my death are Muskaan Lalit Parsamni (Kapil's advocate), Lalit Parsamni (Muskaan's husband) and Kapil Kumar Nandwani (her husband)," said Raviraj Singh Vaghela, Riddhi's advocate, Adipur. This case was closed by SI Preeti A Dawera on the day Riddhi was killed," said Raviraj Singh Vaghela.
"There have been changes made in cases filed by Riddhi, this indicates a cover up and support to Kapil by the police. Not once has he been hauled up or punished. Had this been done I believe that my client would have been alive today," said Raviraj Singh Vaghela.
"The police are not taking the matter seriously," said Ravindra Sabarwal, social worker and an RTI activist, speaking to TOI on phone from Adipur. Another disadvantage is that Riddhi's family is not physically present in Adipur to build pressure, they keep in touch via phone and social media which is not enough.
