on Tuesday sentenced RAS officerAshokYadav
and two others to two years of imprisonment in a case of illegal allotment of 28 bigha
land of Karni
Mata temple to a private person. Yadav
is currently posted as additional district magistrate in Sriganganagar
.Ashok Yadav was posted as sub division magistrate (south) in Bikaner in 1998.
During his tenure as SDM he passed an order in favour of one Nain Giri and illegally allotted him 28 bigha land belonging Karni Mata Temple in Deshnok. Just after three days of announcing the order, Yadav got the deal entered in revenue records in favour of Giri, and put remarks that without his orders, any change should not be carried out in the entry.
After this decision of Ashok Yadav, ACB Bikaner received an anonymous complaint about some corrupt practices in the land deal. Accordingly, ACB started an investigation after registering a preliminary enquiry. The investigation went on for seven years and ACB filed the chargesheet in court in 2005 against Ashok Yadav, Nain Giri,
Om Prakash Kothari and four others.
Kothari was holder of power of attorney of the land in question. Out of 40 witnesses presented by ACB in the court, one witness categorically established that Yadav received an amount of Rs 1 lakh from Nain Giri for passing the order in his favour.
The ACB court, Bikaner on Tuesday announced conviction under Section 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act to be read with Section 120-B of IPC.
However, the court stayed the imprisonment for a period of one month to allow the accused to file appeal.
