JAIPUR: A day after retired sub-inspector of Rajasthan police Munshi Lal was arrested by the CBI in connection with alleged fake encounter of criminal
Dara Singh, he was produced in a court on Friday that sent him to judicial custody till June 7.
CBI officials claim Munshi Lal had tampered with the records of vehicle logs and wireless logs of the SOG to favour the accused police officers involved in killing of Dara Singh.
Munshi Lal, a resident of Tonk Railway Crossing area, was produced in the special CBI court on Friday.
The CBI claimed the encounter team had never visited the SOG officer before killing Dara Singh, but Munshi Lal, who was duty officer at SOG, made fake entries of providing them guns. The mobile call locations of the accused officers were indicating their presence somewhere else. However, Munshi Lal denied the charges. He was booked under Sections 120B and 302 of IPC.
The CBI has arrested IG A Ponnuchami and four other policemen -
Nisar Khan,
Naresh Sharma, Satyanarayan Gaudara and Surendra Singh Chaudhary - for allegedly killing Dara Singh in cold blood on the outskirts of Jaipur on October 23, 2006. The five policemen too are in judicial custody till June 7.
