JAIPUR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday started the preliminary inquiry (PE) and recorded the statement of the city Mayor Jyoti Khandelwal who complained about the alleged irregularity in the auction of Jaipur Municipal Corporation's prime land on the Sawai Jai Singh highway. She lodged the complaint on Monday against the officials involved the auction including, JMC CEO
Rajesh Yadav.
An official source said a team of ACB official spent almost two hours at the mayor's house to record her statement.
Confirming the news, the mayor said, “Yes, ACB officials have recorded my statement regarding the auction.”
She said it was a matter of concern as the auction was done against the rules. Also, according to the rules, 25 per cent of the land price sold in auction has to be submitted at that time through a demand draft or banker's cheque.
However, the officials involved accepted the payment through cheque which is a violation, she added.
She said if the same benefits were given to other participants in the auction, more bidders would have participated and the corporation could have sold the land at a higher price.
