Jaipur: The husband of the arrested panchayat samiti pradhan of Udaipurwati in Jhunjhunu district is on the run along with another accused, said Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday. Pradhan Maya Devi was arrested on Friday along with two others for allegedly receiving a bribe.
The three arrested people— Devi, former Udaipurwati BDO Babu Lal Raiger and middleman Bhola Ram—were produced in a court and sent to judicial custody. Bhola Ram is Devi’s brother-in-law. They were arrested by an ACB team for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 for passing a contractor’s bills of nearly Rs 37 lakh for infrastructural work. Raiger was working as chief planning officer of Churu zila parishad.
ACB said investigations have revealed that Maya Devi’s husband Ramniwas and Narendra, a junior technical assistant posted at Udaipurwati panchayat samiti, were also involved in this corruption racket.
“We have got concrete clues on their whereabouts, and Searches are being conducted to arrest the duo. They will be in custody soon,” said an ACB officer.
