ALWAR: In a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) police, the
Alwar
cops on Friday arrested eight conmen allegedly involved in cheating lakhs of rupees by creating a fake social networking account of additional director general, J&K police.
All the criminals belong to Mewat region. Seven belong to Kankroli village under Sadar police station of Alwar and one belong to Chor Ghadhi village of Bharatpur.
Senior police officers were stunned after they came to know that all the arrested accused aged 20 to 25 years are merely secondary pass but have mastered the illegal skill of cheating people.
Tejaswini Gautam, superintendent of police, Alwar, said, "One inspector of the J&K police contacted us and informed that criminals of Mewat region have created a fake social media account in the name of ADG rank officer of J&K police. They cheated people and asked for money which was transferred too. They had specific IT input that the IP address belonged to our area. In a joint operation, we have arrested eight persons in this connection and later handed them over to them."
She added that criminals had created fake social media account of Mukesh Singh, the ADG rank officer in the J&K police. "The accused were identified as Mahish, Shaukat, Irrfan, Aarish, Mausam Khan, Mustaq, Aasif and Sahib Khan who are secondary school pass," she added.
The Gandhi Nagar crime branch of J & K police had registered a case after they found that fake social media accounts were made in the name of ADG rank officer.
Police said it was found in probe that accused had got the SIM card from outside Rajasthan while operating the social media account to give a slip to the police.
