JAIPUR: A 50-year-old man was strangulated to death in the Galta Gate area under Amber police station on Sunday. The police recovered some mobile memory cards from the crime scene, which had pictures of two young men in a compromising position with the deceased. They suspect the man might have been killed by youths.
"The deceased Ahsan Khan owned six rickshaws which he rented to rikshaw-pullers.
He lived alone in the house situated on the Galta hills," said Mahesh Chand Sharma, in-charge of Amber police station.
A neighbour visited Khan's house on Sunday morning and found him lying on his bed. Thinking that he was asleep, the neighbour tried to wake him up but did not get any response. Following this, he informed the police.
"We found a towel lying near the body, which was used to strangulate Ahsan Khan," the officer said.
Khan had returned along with two youths around 8.30 pm on Saturday and was not seen after that. "The neighbours said the two youths had been seen in the locality in the past too," he said.
"The two men were seen in a compromising position with Khan in the pictures stored in memory cards," said the officer.
The police are trying to ascertain whether the youths in the pictures are the same who had been spotted with Khan on Saturday evening. "We suspect that Khan was blackmailing the duo following which they murdered him," he said.
