4th phase of RUIDP gets nod: Chief secretary D B Gupta
JAIPUR: The Asian Development Bank has given in-principle nod to Rs 4200 crore grant for 4th phase under the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP), state chief secretary D B Gupta said here on Thursday.
Speaking at an on smart and green livable cities organized by CII-Rajasthan, Gupta said it is said the percentage of urban population at 25% in the state is less compared to 30% in the country but we should always keep in mind that the rate of urbanization has increased drastically in last few years in the state requiring huge investments for developing infrastructure.

“The fast pace of urbanization will definite have an impact on the resources and their availability. Therefore, state government is making sure all aspects of development are being taken care off,” added Gupta.
Giving example of an ongoing Social Security Programme, he said that people of 191 cities are being provided with breakfast at Rs 5 and lunch and dinner at Rs 8 only under Annapurna Rasoi Yojana.
He reeled off number of number of initiatives like Mukhamanrti Jal Saavlambhan Yojana, LED street light project, sewerage management as the examples of meeting the changes in living up to the additional infrastructure requirement.
Anil Saboo, chairman, CII-Rajasthan said that 31% of India’s population resides in the cities which contribute to almost 63% in Indian GDP. But it is very unfortunate that 38% of the urban population live below the poverty line and about 80 million people live in slums and they need resources to live a basic good life, he added.
