4 held for stealing from Khatu Shyam Ji pilgrims

Jaipur: City police Monday busted a gang involved in stealing mobile phones from devotees heading to Khatu Shyamji fair and arrested four accused from Sindhi Camp bus stand. The arrested men were identified as Imran Khan (33), Arvind alias Goswami (40), Vijay Thakur (40), and Indrajeet Gurjar (21), police said. Eleven mobile phones were recovered from their possession. The arrests came after two victims, Shankar Hazra and Naresh Kumawat, filed two separate FIRs on March 9, alleging that their phones were stolen the previous night while they waited for a bus at platform no. 2.According to the complaint, a boy suddenly took the mobile phones from the victims' pockets. "When we tried to stop him, three others armed with iron knives and screwdrivers intervened and threatened us," Kumawat stated in his complaint. The victims recalled that the accused called each other by their names- Imran, Arvind, Vijay, and Indrajit.Police said mobile and purse thefts had increased at the bus stand due to the fair's heavy footfall. "Given the gravity of the case, a special team was formed to track the suspects. Through surveillance and CCTV footage analysis, we identified and arrested the gang members," an official said. tnn
