4 cut-off dates for enrolling new voters

The Election Commission (EC) has now allowed four cut-off dates - January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 - in a year for citizens turning 18 to register themselves as voters, said state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta.

Jaipur: The Election Commission (EC) has now allowed four cut-off dates - January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 - in a year for citizens turning 18 to register themselves as voters, said state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta.
Earlier, an individual who had attained the age of 18 years as on January 1 of that year, or before, was eligible to be enrolled in the voters’ list.

The forms to be filled for the registration of voters have been amended to make these convenient for them. The revised forms will be available on ERO-NET and IT applications from August 1.
Gupta informed that in all 12 forms — 1, 2, 2A, 3, 6, 7, 8, 11, 11A, 11B, 18 and 19 — have been amended as per the Electoral Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2022 — issued by the ministry of law and justice — after consultations with the ECI. In the case of an orphan, the details of relatives can now be given as the details of a legal guardian. TNN
