3 police constables booked for raping woman in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Three police constables in Rajasthan's Alwar district have been accused of raping an 18-year-old woman for over a year, officials reported on Sunday. Superintendent of police Anand Sharma stated that the woman filed a complaint against the three policemen on Saturday evening, alleging that they had threatened to falsely implicate her brother if she reported the matter.

The accused constables have been recalled from their assignments and attached to the police lines. A case has been registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 376-D (gang rape), and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Raini police station.

The three constables were stationed at the Raini police station, the office of the Rajgarh Circle Officer, and the Malakheda police station. The Raini police station is part of the Rajgarh Circle.

According to the victim's complaint, she endured the alleged rape for more than a year. The victim, accompanied by her mother, reported the incident to the SP Office.

Superintendent Sharma explained that the POCSO Act was invoked since the victim was a minor when the first incident occurred in November last year. Upon receiving the complaint, it was promptly forwarded to the Raini police station, where an FIR was registered on Saturday night.

The SP emphasized that, to ensure an unbiased investigation, the constables were transferred to the police lines after the FIR was registered, and no arrests have been made at this time.
