The fun of picnic at a pond turned into a nightmare for a group of five engineering students on Monday when three of them drowned in a pond in Bikaner's Bhichhwal area. Rescue operation was on till reports last came in.

Jaipur: The fun of picnic at a pond turned into a nightmare for a group of five engineering students on Monday when three of them drowned in a pond in Bikaner's Bhichhwal area. Rescue operation was on till reports last came in.
According to the police, the incident took place at a water body in Shobasar village near Bhichhwal.
"A group of five students studying at a private engineering college in Karni Industrial Area in Bichhwal had gone there for a picnic.

Three of them got into the pond to take a bath and drowned," said a police officer, adding that the remaining two students started shouting for help. Some villagers saw them and informed the police, following which rescue teams were rushed to the spot.
"We have roped in divers to locate the students. Rescue operation is going on," said the officer. The students belong to Bhartpur, Jodhpur and Nagaur districts and stayed at a hostel in their college.
