29-year-old arrested with LSD in Jaipur

JAIPUR: A 29-year-old man was arrested with seven lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) stamps, a psychedelic drug, by the organised crime wing of the

Jaipur Police

Commissionerate on Friday. This is said to be the first such

LSD

seizure reported from the city.

The accused, identified as Gaurav Soni, has completed his B.Tech and is pursuing a digital designing course. He was among 21 drug peddlers arrested by the police during the ongoing Operation Clean Sweep from Thursday.

Soni got the LSD stamps from a rave party in Pushkar a month ago. “He is not only a consumer but also a drug peddler. It appears that he was planning to deliver the drugs to his clients while he was arrested,” additional DCP (organised crime)

Vimal Singh Nehra

told TOI.

“One LSD stamp is being sold for Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 in the Jaipur market,” said an officer. According to police, LSD is imported illegally to the country from America, Greece, The Netherlands and Germany.

During the current drive, the

police dog

squad too helped in nabbing culprits from Jhotwara, Kardhani, Jawahar Circle, Aadarsh Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Mohana, Manak Chowk,

Shastri Nagar

and other police station areas.

“We have arrested 21 persons involved in illegal smuggling of narcotics since Thursday. This includes the arrest of B.Tech student,” he added.

Other than LSD, police also seized drugs such as cocaine, smack, brown sugar and ‘ganja’ from peddlers.

“We started the Operation Clean Sweep on October 23, 2019. Since then, we have arrested 308 persons and registered 255 cases against them,” said a senior police officer of the commissionerate.
