Police said the weapons used in the firing were countrymade and the incident took place when the accused were negligently loading the weapons. “The arrested accused are identified as Vasudev Singh (52) and Sandeep Singh(25), natives of Samochi village where the pre-wedding ceremony was organised. Sandeep Singh is the elder brother of Devendra Singh, whose lagan teeka (pre-wedding ceremony) was organised on Sunday, and Vasudev is his friend from the village,” said Ashok Chauhan, circle officer, Kathumar.

The deceased and the injured sustained pallet injuries as the weapon was countrymade. “Among the two injured were a girl identified as Prachi, who was discharged from hospital, while Hansa (35) was rushed to Jaipur for further treatment,” he said. “We have booked both of them for murder and for violation of arms Act since the weapons were unlicensed,” he added.

Police said initial reports suggested both the accused were drunk and failed to handle the weapons.
