JAIPUR: Two armed robbers stormed into a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Hindaun City, Karauli, on Friday and looted Rs 10 lakh at gunpoint.
The robbery, which lasted less than five minutes, took place at around 4pm in the bank's RIICO industrial area branch. Police said they got vital clues about the identity of the robbers and would arrest them soon.
Sources said the police are using CCTV footage and analysing it with the help of some AI-based tools to identify the robbers.
According to police, the robbers entered the bank and brandished the guns they were carrying, terrorising those inside. One pointed his gun at the manager while the other threatened the cashier, demanding cash.
The robbers made away with Rs 10 lakh, an amount that was transferred to this branch from PNB's main branch in the town on Bayana Road just 30 minutes before the incident. CCTV footage captured one of the robbers inside the bank.
At the time of the heist, only a few staff members and customers were present in the bank. The robbers fled the scene on a motorbike.
The entire operation was completed within five minutes. The bank manager informed the police, following which senior police officers, including Additional SP Satyendra Pal Singh and DSP Girdhar Singh, initiated an investigation.
