15 new air quality monitoring stations set to come up in Raj

Jaipur: Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) and a Pune-based Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) signed MoU on Tuesday for Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS). The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and the RSPCB signed an MoU for setting up 15 new Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) centers in the state. At present the work of monitoring air pollution is being done through two GPS equipped mobile vans and 43 CAAQMS centres.City’s residents will get its Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) to track real-time and forecasted data on air pollution levels.On the occasion, an Environmental Audit Scheme was released to ensure the environmental protection efforts being made by the industries and to ensure compliance with the rules issued by the RSPCB. This audit work will be performed by environment auditors under various rules and provisions of RSPCB, in return for which the environment auditor will be given a remuneration of Rs 12,000 per month.RSPCB chairperson Shikhar Agrawal said the state government is sensitive towards pollution control and environmental health and the Board is making continuous efforts in this direction. On this occasion, he discussed in detail the air quality forecasting model being developed for Jaipur, Environmental Audit Scheme, Merger of Consent Scheme, FAQs on End of Life Vehicle and the effective work being done towards pollution control in the state.

City to get air pollution alert system

Jaipur will soon have an air quality early warning system (AQEWS) to track real-time air pollution data and make forecasts. The system will alert authorities and people with respiratory diseases about large-scale pollution events. The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board will sign an MoU with the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology for the system. Additionally, 15 new air quality monitoring stations will be set up in the state. In Delhi, the government plans to deploy air quality monitoring vans at schools to raise awareness and help individuals protect their health.

Mumbai: BMC to take various measures to control air pollution due to construction activities

The BMC's development plan department has issued a circular to control environmental pollution caused by construction activities in Mumbai. The circular mandates various measures to prevent pollution, such as using wind breaking tin or metal sheets around construction sites and using tarpaulin or jute sheets to cover demolition structures. The guidelines are applicable to all ongoing and proposed construction projects in the city. Regular cleaning of the sheets and on-site crushing of demolition material are also required.

Air quality lab building by next year: BSPCB

Construction has begun on an air quality laboratory building in Patna. The laboratory, to be used by the Bihar State Pollution Control Board, will include facilities for sample collection and testing, as well as dedicated space for scientists and a conference room. The project is expected to be completed by the end of next year and the entire premises will be certified as a green building. The construction of the laboratory is part of efforts to improve air quality in the region.
