14 file Rajasthan byelection papers on last day

JAIPUR: As many as 14 candidates filed 21 nomination papers on the last day meant for filing nominations for the assembly

to Mandawa and Khinvsar. The polls are scheduled to be held on October 21. Congress candidate Harendra Mirdha and

Rashtriya Loktantrik Party

's (RLTP) Narayan Ram filed their nominations from the Khinvsar assembly seat.

Narayan Ram is RLTP convener and MP Hanuman Beniwal's brother. From Mandawa constituency, Congress' Rita Choudhary and BJP candidate Sushila Devi filed their nominations. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot were present during the filing of nomination papers of the Congress candidates.



Among the senior BJP leaders, Arjun Ram Meghwal,

Lal Chand Kataria

, Rajendra Rathore, Satish Poonia and Arun Chaturvedi were present in support of their candidates during filing of nominations.

BJP is contesting the bypolls to Khinvsar assembly seat in alliance with the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLTP).

State's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anand Kumar informed that in Khinvsar five candidates filed nine nomination papers and nine candidates from Mandawa assembly seat filed 12 nomination papers. The nomination papers will be examined on October 1 and the last date of withdrawing nominations is October 3.

The bypolls were necessitated after Khinvsar MLA Hanuman Beniwal and Mandawa MLA (BJP) Narendra Kumar were elected to the

Lok Sabha

in May.
