13 kids injured as school bus overturns in Kotputli

Jaipur: A school bus carrying 13 children overturned before crashing into an agricultural field in Kotputli-Behror district, Monday, leaving 10 students injured. The students were discharged from the hospital after treatment, but the incident has again raised concerns about the violation of road safety norms by school buses.The bus, which belonged to Kamla Public School, was operating without a fitness certificate for over five years. Records showed that its certification expired in Jan 2020, along with its pollution certificate, insurance, and permit, all of which were invalid since then.The accident occurred near Ramsinghpura village on the outskirts of Kotputli. The bus picked up children from nearby villages and was heading to the school when the mishap occurred around 8 a.m., said Behror SHO Vikrant Yadav."The villagers alleged that the bus was overspeeding. It likely overturned due to that and landed in a nearby mustard field. However, the bus driver claims he lost control when a stray animal suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle," said the officer. He added that preliminary investigations revealed the bus was in poor condition and lacked a valid fitness certificate."The bus was carrying 13 children, 10 of whom were injured. Four children required stitches for wounds, while the others were discharged after primary treatment," the officer said. The bus has been seized, and the driver taken into custody.Police have sought details of the vehicle from the local transport officer but said, according to preliminary information, the bus did not have a permit to transport school children.
