JAIPUR: To increase the polling percentage, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to allow 13 identity cards to cast votes. These will serve as an alternative to the election photo identity card (EPIC) for the first time in this assembly election. Officials claimed that this would increase the polling percentage and ensure that voters don't miss the chance to exercise their right to vote.
"It is being ensured that the voters can exercise their franchise without any hassle on the voting day. Voters who don't have an EPIC, can show 12 alternative photo identity documents," said district election officer Prakash Rajpurohit.
These photo identity documents are Aadhaar Card; MNREGA job card; driving licence; PAN card; Indian passport; pension documents with photo, service identity card with photo.

"In 2018 assembly elections as well as the 2019 Lok Sabha polls there were only eight to nine identity cards valid to cast votes, but this time the ECI had added several new identity cards. However, voters should carry their voting slips with serial numbers," said an official.
The ECI had earlier conducted home voting facilities to those over 80 years of age and for differently-abled voters. It has also ensured ramp facility at all the polling rooms across the state.
Trained sign language assistants will also be available for voters. A dummy ballot sheet written in Braille will be provided to visually impaired voters.
