JAIPUR: Presenting the budget on Friday, state chief minister Ashok Gehlot announced the appointment of 100 coaches at the Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC). It was a much-needed step as there was a dearth of coaches to help in the development of the players.
Another important announcement made on the day was regarding giving jobs to sportspersons at the RSSC, instead of other government departments, under the out of turn policy.
Moreover, Rs150 crore has been granted for Rajiv Gandhi rural and urban Olympic Games which will be hosted simultaneously this year. Also, Salim Durani residential sports school will be established in divisional headquarters and the matching grant of Rs 25 lakh for the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium Scheme has been increased to Rs1 crore for construction of stadiums at the block level.
RSSC chairperson Krishna Poonia said, “Progressive steps have been taken and these announcements in the budget will strengthen the sports ecosystem in the state.”
