police arrested a youth from
Barmer district
for allegedly posting a fake and obscene video of a
TikTok
artist Priya Gupta, DCP (Jodhpur west) Priti Chandra said.
“Accused has been identified as one Shankar Lal, a resident of Barmer district. He has been booked under the provisions of IT Act for posting a fake and objectionable video online,” Chandra told TOI, adding that the accused was arrested on Wednesday.
Gupta, who earned huge popularity on social media after she posted comic videos, had threatened to commit suicide if the accused was not arrested. The police said that the accused had taken a video clip out of a porn website and circulated it by claiming that the girl in it was Gupta. “The girl in the obscene video is not Priya Gupta. We have already written to social media websites about the matter,” Chandra said.
