Ziro to host butterfly meet from Oct 5-8

Itanagar: The 11th edition of Ziro Butterfly Meet will be held at Pange, Tale Wildlife Sanctuary from October 5 to 8.The meet will coincide with Wildlife Week and aims to create awareness and appreciation for natural heritage while encouraging conservation efforts. Organised by NGO NgunuZiro, the four-day event will include guided butterfly watching tours, educational workshops on butterfly conservation and ecology, engaging talks by renowned entomologists and conservationists, and opportunities for networking among nature enthusiasts and experts. The organisers have urged nature lovers, students, researchers and the general public to participate in this enriching experience.

UPs tiger reserves need community-based wildlife conservation: Experts

Wildlife experts suggested integrating local communities near Uttar Pradesh's tiger reserves into conservation efforts to reduce man-animal conflicts. Citing Nepals success, Mudit Gupta of WWF recommended community-based programmes start at Pilibhit Tiger Reserve. Nepal's approach included military protection, financial assistance for attack victims, and insurance schemes for crop damage, resulting in increased tiger population and reduced conflicts.

Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary to host Delhi's first seed ball plantation drive

For the first time, Delhi's forest and wildlife department used drones and catapults to drop seed balls at Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary on August 10. These seed balls, created from soil, cow dung, neem cake, and beneficial fungus, aim to promote greenery in remote areas. The initiative also includes a mega plantation drive and manual sapling planting.
