ITANAGAR: Two persons, including a woman, were arrested here on Sunday for damaging an ATM while trying to steal cash. The accused have been identified by police as Banu Jorum (40) and Takam Sampa (20).
SP (Capital) Rohit Rajbir Singh said Prasanna Borah of NCR Corporation India Pvt Ltd, Guwahati lodged a written FIR saying that unknown perpetrators vandalised an ATM at Ganga on the intervening night of August 2 and August 3.
NCR Corporation, an authorised entity, has been tasked with the installation of ATMs in the NE on behalf of the State Bank of India.
The SP said a special investigation team was formed under Itanagar SDPO Kengo Dirchi following the complaint.
A case under Section 305 (a)/62/3(5) BNS r/w Section 3 of PDPP Act has been registered against the arrested duo, the SP said, adding they have been sent to judicial custody.
