Itanagar: Naharlagun Police have apprehended a gang of thieves active in the state capital, a communique by capital SP Devendra Arya said on Tuesday. The arrested thieves, Bharat Das alias Gwala (30), Shiva Singh alias Aashiq (19), Ranbhir Singh (19) and Abhishek Singh (19), are all from Bihar. The gang had stolen Rs 2 lakh from one Gyammar Kaba last month, following him from the bank he had withdrawn the money from. More such cases followed over the next few weeks in Itanagar and Naharlagun, the SP said.On Monday, a police team led by SI K Dev, under the direct supervision of Arya and Naharlagun Police Station OC inspector N Riba, nabbed the entire gang. They apprehended one of its members, Shiva Singh alias Aashi, on Monday at around 11.30 am from the Central Bank of India branch at Takar Complex, where he was shadowing customers and planning a heist. After a long chase, the other members of the gang were arrested from Nirjuli.During interrogation, they disclosed that they were committing such crimes in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh as well, the SP said. tnn
