Khonsa East Assembly Election Result 2024: Wanglam Sawin wins election

NEW DELHI: Wanglam Sawin, an independent candidate won the election after gaining 4544 votes from the Khonsa East seat with a margin of 2216, according to the Election Commission of India.

Khonsa East is a constituency in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is situated in the southern part of the state. Agriculture is the main economic activity, with rice, tea, and horticultural crops being prominent. The population primarily consists of indigenous tribes such as the Nocte and Wancho.

Khonsa East is one of the 60 constituencies in the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It holds a key role in the political landscape of the state. It is a Schedule Tribe (ST) category seat.

The election in the constituency was successfully held on April 19. Kamrang Tesia from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nok Wanghop from National People’s Party (NPEP) and, Wanglam Sawin (IND) are the major candidates this year.

In 2019, BJP candidate Wanglam Sawin won the election with 5,051 votes, followed by Danhang Phuksa from NPEP, who got 1,670 votes.
