Itanagar bike rally bid to step up fight against AIDS

Itanagar: A bike rally was flagged off by health and family welfare minister Biyuram Wahge and his advisor, Mohesh Chai, from Akashdeep Shopping Complex on Saturday as part of the month-long IEC (information, education and communication) campaign.Speaking at the launch of the event, Waghe assured support from the state govt in the fight against HIV/AIDS.He emphasised the need for people from all walks of life to join hands with the Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS), in order to achieve our goal of HIV-free society. The minister praised all the participants of the bike rally for turning up for the noble cause.Dr Chai sensitized the participants to the four routes of HIV transmission. He urged the people to stay away specially from injecting drugs and multiple or unprotected sex.

Tiranga bike rally held

The BJP Belagavi Uttar Yuva Morcha organized a Tiranga bike rally as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign for Independence Day. Concurrently, Chikodi KLE Engineering College celebrated the 132nd Librarians Day. Additionally, new office bearers took charge at Belgaum Cosmo Round Table Club 237. Various events, criminal arrests, and other local activities also took place.

Assam launches HIV awareness campaign

On International Youth Day, the Assam State AIDS Control Society launched a two-month campaign in Guwahati to raise awareness about HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Various dignitaries and youth icons participated. Emphasis was placed on battling drug use, which contributes to HIV transmission. The campaign aims to cover 1000 villages across 10 districts, promoting awareness in educational institutions and communities.

HIV cases up 11% in 5 years across Haryana, govt steps up focus on campaigns & testing

Haryana observed a rise in HIV cases, with numbers increasing due to greater testing efforts between 2019 and 2023. The statistics revealed a rise from 50,604 cases in 2019 to 56,578 in 2023. Gurgaon saw a significant spike, attributed to increased targeted testing. Awareness campaigns and accessible treatments were emphasized to curb the infection spread.
