Expedite construction of terminal bldg, ATC tower at Donyi Polo, says min

Itanagar: Civil aviation minister Balo Raja on Wednesday inspected the under construction terminal building and ATC tower at the Donyi Polo Airport at Hollongi near here.Owing to the inordinate delay in construction, the airport has been operating from a temporary building with limited facilities and a mobile ATC since it was commissioned on November 19, 2022.Raja was accompanied by civil aviation secretary Swapnil M Naik and Papum Pare deputy commissioner Jiken Bomjen. Airport director P Narendra briefed them about the progress of work.The minister asked the airport officials to expedite the construction and ensure the completion of the terminal building and ATC tower by October in order to make them operational by December. He also asked the officials to complete the construction of a barrack within a year to accommodate airport security personnel, thereby facilitating the posting of CISF in place of the existing interim arrangement of state police.The airport saw a footfall of more than 1.5 lakh passengers in the last one year, Narendra said.He said in the wake of the high passenger footfall and at the behest of the Arunachal Pradesh govt, the Donyi Polo Airport has been functioning seven days a week from July 31, 2024 with Indigo operating daily flights on Itanagar-Kolkata route. The Itanagar-Guwahati flight service will also resume soon, he added.Moreover, considering the rush of passengers, Narendra appealed to the state govt for a separate police outpost for the airport.

Heavy rains hit flight operations at Mumbai airport

Air India and IndiGo advised travelers to expect delays. The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for the city, predicting further rainfall. Waterlogging affected local transportation.

No proposal from TN govt for Hosur airport nor request from airlines for 24/7 operations at Madurai airport: Centre

The Union government stated it has not received any proposal from Tamil Nadu or developers for site clearance for a greenfield airport in Hosur. Additionally, there has been no formal request from airlines for 24/7 operations at Madurai airport, which currently connects to Dubai, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, despite recent government statements.
