ITANAGAR: A cloudburst on Sunday morning in Itanagar, causing multiple landslides and flooding, according to officials.
Despite the heavy rainfall experienced in Arunachal Pradesh over the past few weeks, conditions had improved in the last two days, and no rain was predicted for Sunday.
The cloudburst, which occurred around 10:30 am, resulted in landslides in various locations throughout Itanagar and its surrounding areas. Additionally, several sections of NH-415, a crucial route for the residents of the state capital, experienced flood-like conditions, as reported by a Disaster Management Department official.
Numerous vehicles were left stranded on the highway due to the adverse conditions.
In light of the heavy rains, the district administration urged people to avoid rivers and areas prone to landslides, advising them to relocate to safer locations, as stated by officials.
To provide assistance, the district administration has established seven designated relief camps.
