Arunachal tables bill to curb unfair means in public examinations

Itanagar: To curb irregularities and the use of unfair means in public examinations in the state, Arunachal Pradesh govt on Friday tabled a bill in the assembly on the first day of the budget session.
The Arunachal Pradesh Public Exam (Measures to Prevent Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024 was introduced by CM Pema Khandu.
It incorporates stringent penalties and imprisonment with the imposition of a fine of up to Rs 1 crore.
The bill was necessitated by the fiasco caused by the question paper leak during the exam conducted by Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for the post of assistant engineer (civil) in 2022. Five people, including APPSC deputy secretary-cum-deputy controller of examination Taket Jerang, were arrested.
