Arunachal CM voices concern over influence of money in elections

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu has asserted that his government has taken a stern stance against corruption and condemned the influence of money in elections, according to a statement issued on Thursday.Speaking at the Mega Alpkalin Vistarak training programme organised by the BJP at DK Convention Hall here on Wednesday, Khandu emphasised on the importance of instilling an anti-corruption culture at the grassroots level.He underscored the need to eradicate practices of money-power during elections. He applauded state BJP president Biyuram Wahge, general secretary (organisation) Ananta Narayan Mishra and their team for organising the extensive training programme. The chief minister expressed confidence that the initiative would fortify the party in the state and make people aware of government achievements at the grassroots level.Khandu stated that the BJP is capable of driving development in the state and urged people to strengthen the government for comprehensive progress. He appealed to BJP workers to motivate youth to join the party, emphasising the need for constant awareness, the communique added. PTI

LS elections: BJP vistaraks to help party feel pulse of voters

The BJP has initiated the process of deploying vistarak in all 80 Lok Sabha and 403 assembly seats of UP as part of their strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Vistarak are party functionaries responsible for gathering ground-level feedback about the political situation and the performance of MPs and MLAs. This input will play a crucial role in determining the electoral strategy and the fate of the public representatives. The deployment of vistarak also aligns with the BJP's plan of asking its MPs to provide report cards on their performance over the past five years.

State worst in convicting corrupt babus

Maharashtra has the lowest conviction rate for cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, with only 9% in 2022 and 11% in 2021. In contrast, Gujarat has a conviction rate of more than 40%. Former DGP Pravin Dixit expressed concern over the absence of a full-time DGP for the ACB in Maharashtra, which has had a demoralizing impact on the state machinery. Additionally, there has been a prolonged delay in appointing a DGP (ACB) in Maharashtra. Improvement in the conviction rate and addressing this delay are crucial for combating corruption in the state.

JD(U) to organise 'Bhim Sansad' to counter BJP's poll campaign

JDU plans to mobilise Mahadalits through 'Bhim Sansad' in Patna on November 26 to counter BJP's campaign for Lok Sabha elections. The party aims to connect Mahadalits with the support of Minister Ashok Choudhary and two other ministers. The 'Bhim Samvad' events held in all districts are mobilising Mahadalits, who constitute around 20% of the voter base. In Bihar, Mahadalits, along with Yadavs and Muslims, could significantly impact the election results, as they together make up 42% of the population.
