CM pushes for regional SBI office in Arunachal during meeting with FM

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu is pushing for the establishment of a regional office of the State Bank of India (SBI) in the frontier state.The CM made the request during a meeting with Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Wednesday, in the presence of deputy CM Chowna Mein.Khandu highlighted the importance of a regional SBI office for boosting economic growth and facilitating financial services in the state. “A regional office of the State Bank of India will significantly enhance banking services and support the economic development of Arunachal Pradesh,” he wrote on X.The meeting, described by Khandu as a “matter of great delight”, also included discussions on upcoming major projects and ongoing development efforts in the state. Khandu expressed his gratitude to Sitharaman for presenting a “futuristic” Union budget for the fiscal 2024-25, which he believes will benefit the state’s infrastructure and economic landscape. Khandu and Mein apprised Sitharaman of the ongoing projects in Arunachal Pradesh and sought her continued support from the ministry of finance. They emphasised the need for sustained financial backing to realise the state’s development goals.Khandu also shared a copy of a memorandum submitted to PM Narendra Modi, outlining the state’s development needs and priorities.
