Youths attack guests at wedding ceremony, 6 injured

Indore: A group of youths barged into a mandap at late-night wedding ceremony in Tejaji Nagar police station limits and assaulted guests, leaving six persons injured.The incident took place around 2 am on Wednesday in Machla village, where wedding rituals of a woman were underway and preparations for pheras were in progress. According to police, a group of youths entered the venue while fighting among themselves and disrupted the ceremony.When family members intervened and asked them to leave, the situation escalated. The accused allegedly began hurling abuses and soon turned aggressive, attacking those present with sticks and fists. Panic spread across the venue as the assault unfolded in the middle of the ceremony.Tejaji Nagar police station in-charge Devendra Markam said that a case has been registered against Sahil Kotiya, Monu Mithoriya, Aman Kotiya and their associates under sections related to assault and vandalism. Some suspects have been detained and were being questioned.Those injured in the attack were identified as Jagram Banjara (50), his relative Laxman Banjara (70), Gangabai, Jagdish, Kalabai and Purkiya alias Prem. All were taken to a hospital for medical examination and were discharged after primary treatment.Family members told police that the accused grew hostile when confronted and launched the attack without provocation. Though people present at the venue managed to intervene and prevent further escalation, the accused fled the spot after issuing threats.
