A youth has been arrested from Manasa town of Neemuch district on charges of raping a 28-year-old dalit woman on gunpoint for two years.

INDORE: A youth has been arrested from Manasa town of Neemuch district on charges of raping a 28-year-old dalit woman on gunpoint for two years.
The accused identified as Yasmin Pathan, 30, was arrested on Friday night, said police sources.
The arrest was made after the rape survivor, mother of two, lodged a complaint at the Manasa police station on Friday morning.

The arrested youth, is already accused in an Arms Act case and has been booked under Sections 376, 506 of IPC, besides the SC/ST Act and the Arms Act, Manasa police station in charge R S Bhadoria told TOI over phone on Saturday.
According to Bhadoria, the youth was raping the woman for past two years on gunpoint and had even opened fire on her twice in the past to threaten her from telling about the incident to anyone.
The woman, however, gathered the courage against Yasmin on Friday morning and reported the matter to Neemuch police.
"A country made pistol and live cartridges have been recovered from Yasmin, who is now on police remand," the Manasa police station in charge added.

Woman commits suicide: A 30-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her house in Dwarika Puri area of Indore on Saturday morning. Priti Verma took the extreme step in a room on the third floor of the house, while her businessman husband Varun, mother-in-law and son were present on the second floor of the house. A suicide note purportedly written by Priti was recovered from the spot. In the note it's mentioned that Priti was ending life on her own volition and her husband was not to be blamed for it. Further investigation is underway, sub inspector at Chandan Nagar police station RD Yadav said.
