Indore: A 35-year-old woman died by suicide at her home in Annapurna area. Her family members staged a protest and stopped the final rites being carried out by her in-laws on Friday accusing them of murder.
Chaos and a huge crowd was witnessed in the area as the family of deceased, Indu Tiwari, did not allow the in-laws to carry out the final rites.
Police officials reached the spot and dispersed the crowd, assuring them of immediate action.
The woman’s family members claimed that she was being harassed for dowry and her in-laws were demanding Rs 10 lakh from her. The family members also informed police that Indu's son had revealed them that his father had hit Indu and smothered her.
Annapurna police station in-charge Gopal Parmar said that the matter was being investigated. Indu was a resident of Shivpuri and was married to software engineer Gaurav Tiwari in 2016. Gaurav is currently unemployed.
