INDORE: The luck of a crorepati peon, who has officially received a salary of Rs 12 lakh during his 31 years of service with Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC), finally ran out on Wednesday with Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta police raiding his house.

Surprised residents rushed out of their homes only to find it was no divine shower but an attempt to get rid of stashed cash and jewellery by their neighbour, the millionaire Class IV employee.
Deshmukh is at present officiating as a store-keeper with UMC. He is alleged to own property worth Rs 10 crore and properties in Maharashtra, Haryana and Indore.
According to Lokayukta officials, the family initially resisted their knocks, refusing to open the door and began to throw bundles of currency and ornaments from their terrace into their neighbourhood. But the Lokayukta sleuths discovered them in the act. In addition to documents of the various properties, bank accounts and expensive electronic items, Deshmukh was found to have six laptops and 10 cellphones.
Mishra told TOI that it appears that other UMC officials could also be involved in whatever Deshmukh was doing to get hold of extra moolah.
